Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, Vorlesungen über die Wissenschaft der Logik II, Gesammelte Werke, 23,2

The first volume of lecture transcripts on Hegel’s Science of Logic within the Gesammelte Werke (GW 23,1) contains the transcripts created in Jena, as well as those based on the first edition of the Encyclopedia (1817). The second volume (GW 23,2), now published, includes the lecture transcripts from the 1828 (Libelt), 1829 (Rolin), and 1831 (Karl Hegel) courses, which are based on the second (1827) and third editions (1830) of the Encyclopedia.

For the first time, the extensive transcripts by Karol Libelt and Hyppolite Rolin are presented in transcribed and edited form, reflecting Hegel’s logical thought of the time. The three courses in this volume provide a good and didactically structured insight into Hegel’s Science of Logic, as prepared for the students by Hegel himself. The third volume (GW 23,3) will contain the Addenda to Volume 6 of the Gesammelte Werke, the so-called Freundesvereinsausgabe, as well as the Editorial Report and the Notes.
